BAD BRAINS – BAD BRAINS (Tape)

BAD BRAINS – BAD BRAINS (Tape)

Description:

Bad Brains’ eponymous debut studio album, released on cassette by ROIR on February 5, 1982, marked a defining moment for the American hardcore punk scene. Recorded in New York between May and later sessions in 1981, it crackles with the band’s signature intensity, emergency-fast riffs, and abrupt transitions into deep, dub-inflected reggae tones. This format’s original presentation dubbed “The Yellow Tape” emphasized the raw, underdog energy of four Black Rastafarian musicians pushing boundaries in a rough Lower East Side environment.

Blistering tracks like “Attitude,” “Sailin’ On,” and “Banned in D.C.” deliver furious, breakneck punk bursts, while tracks like “Jah Calling” and “Leaving Babylon” unfurl into meditative reggae grooves that ground the album in spiritual and rhythmic depth. The album’s structure and sound showcase the duality that would cement Bad Brains’ legacy.

A great addition for fans of Minor Threat, Agnostic Front, Gorilla Biscuits, Sick of It All.

Condition: New Tape.
