The Damned – The Black Album
Originally released in 1980, The Black Album marked a bold new chapter for The Damned, expanding their sound well beyond the boundaries of traditional punk rock. Blending driving punk anthems with psychedelic, gothic, and progressive influences, the ambitious double album showcased the band's musical evolution while retaining the energy and attitude that made them pioneers of the UK punk scene. Featuring bassist Paul Gray alongside Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, and Rat Scabies, the album also includes a blistering live set recorded with no overdubs in front of The Damned Fan Club, making it one of the band's most celebrated releases.
