LAST RIGHTS – CHUNKS / SO ENDS OUR NIGHT (EP)

Description:

Last Rights was a brief but impactful hardcore-punk outfit from Boston, formed in 1983 by Jack “Choke” Kelly following the end of Negative FX. Though their recorded output was minimal, their 1984 Taang! Records single Chunks b/w So Ends Our Night captures the band’s taut, mid-tempo intensity and clearer, aggressive vocal delivery, offering a smartly arranged contrast to the hyper-speed fury of prior projects.

The two tracks here—Chunks and its B‑side So Ends Our Night—stand out for their lean, punch‑in‑the‑jaw brevity and straightforward guitar-driven riffs. Choke’s snarled but intelligible vocals ride a steady hardcore rhythm, delivering raw yet melodic aggression; these songs have been praised as dance‑floor stompers with lasting resonance in the Boston straight‑edge scene.

A great addition for fans of Bad Religion, Descendents, Rancid, The Bouncing Souls, Pennywise, NOFX
