Ignite - Past Our Means (CD)

Description:

Ignite’s Past Our Means EP, issued in 1996 on Revelation Records, captures the band in its early melodic hardcore phase, just as they were transitioning from European indie labels to the U.S. hardcore scene. The sound is urgent and concise, blending fast-paced aggression with melodic undercurrents that would become a hallmark of their style. Short, potent bursts of energy reflect both punk roots and the burgeoning melodic hardcore identity of the mid‑’90s Orange County scene.

Standout tracks include “Embrace,” a taut and memorable statement with both emotional drive and hook; “In Defense,” distinguished by its stomping mid‑tempo momentum amidst otherwise brisk pacing; and the closing “Taken Away,” which channels frontman Zoli Teglas’s Hungarian background in both lyrical sentiment and tone. The songwriting balances loyalty, societal tension, and personal reflection with melodic grit and hardcore ferocity.

A great addition for fans of Minor Threat, Agnostic Front, Sick of It All, Madball, Gorilla Biscuits, Terror
