Land Speed Record is Hüsker Dü’s debut full-length release, originally issued in 1982 and later reissued by SST Records. Recorded live at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis on August 15, 1981, the album captures the trio at their earliest and most ferocious—blasting through a relentless set of raw, breakneck hardcore punk.

Long before the increasingly melodic sound of albums like Zen Arcade and New Day Rising, Hüsker Dü were delivering short, abrasive hardcore songs at extreme speed. Land Speed Record documents that early sound with Bob Mould, Grant Hart, and Greg Norton tearing through 17 songs in less than half an hour.
